Before I say this, let me absolute clarify I mean NOT to start a debate on this, though hopefully this would not imply such even without this disclaimer.

Trying to wrap my surf-starved brain about this. But if it's using existing wireless signals from tv towers, satellite's etc., don't we still need energy to power the shiz which CREATES the signals?

My own inability to understand aside, this certainly seems like they would have a massive ability to be used in at least a complementary fashion this old school tech we're all up on these days.

That's not really true. RF signals carry no where near the level of power required in any electronic devices of the last 100 years. Only recently have we been able to create devices efficient enough to utilize low energy sources. Even now, we have a long way to go before your cell phone can run without a battery. It is pretty cool technology, and I can see it being the future. It reminds me of the movie Southland Tales.

Kinda like the old light bulb that never burns out, why would they sell those to us? We would never need to buy more again!! Unless you broke one by accident but that's about it. Can't have all of us with unlimited light bulbs, how would they ever profit from that?

We have those now. They are called CFL bulbs. I have had most of mine for 6-7 years, moved them to multiple places, and never had one burn out. Now with the LED's, I hear they will last even longer.

I still have some in use I installed in '95. My house is old and has the porcelain post wire circuit that would blow out a bulb within a month or two. My nephew, a right wing Fox New azz, told my dad they were dangerous and convinced him to throw them all out.

Hahaha, yeah, I have noticed some people really hate on CFL. I love them. I have one in a shop light that has been banged and dropped numerous times, yet is still lives on. Incandescent bulbs would blow if you looked at them the wrong way.
