    this August sucks

Usually August is the time you start to see a decent swells and get to enjoy the nice weather and warm water but this is just miserable.. I dont expect anything good Late June through July but when there are more better days in July then august that's a problem even though the real waves don't come till the winter I still hate not surfing in the summer this is the time to practice and just enjoy everything about the day i really pray for A good sept.

Actually January is one of the flattest months. I think a lot of people don't notice how flat it is because it's so cold out. And the biggest and most consistent swells of the year are in the fall/spring. I agree this August has been absolutely horrific

What's worse is there doesn't even appear to be anything brewing down there. It's not exactly looking good right now.

I disagree, in that August is often really flat on the East Coast. Generally, it is worse then July and June.
Yes, some years, we do have some tropical activity, but more often then not the Tropics don't start firing up until the last week in August or first week in September.

In my experience August has always been better than July.... And I definitely agree January and February are flat months But for the most part you can get that one day where it is just monster waves that you will never see in the summer

Guess it all depends on where you are located. I recall January and February being awesome, cold, but awesome.

January and February aren't flat months

During the summer, more consistent locales usually have a 1-2' peak, somewhere, on the average summer day. During the winter it can be DEAD flat between swells, and you can get some long flat spells of absolutely nothing....no two foot BS days or nothing. In the winter it's either waves from real swells or nothing. During the summer months you get those rideable-if-you-need-to-go days........

But alot of you fellas are relatively new to the game, and our past winters haven't been real good. Yeah, you might here some hype aboot last winter. Yeah, there were a handful of good days...maybe REAL good days depending on where you were at, but it wasn't a real consistent winter. It was ok and had a few swells that were on fire.

But the two winters before last absolutely sucked. Worst winters in recent memory. Terrible......horrible.......

Some winters smoke......back to back to back swells. Plus, the quality of swells during the winter are much better. There may be less "rideable" days in the deep winter(sometimes), but it's definately a matter of quality over quantity.

The way i see it we're due for some good swells. I try to stay as optimistic as possible.

Some winters blow donkey d!ck, others don't.
Some summer's are lake-like, but i wouldn't say this year has been...just been a tough 2 weeks, and for some not even that, Monday morning was good, but my a$$ had to make the donuts.
No matter what...Sept and Oct. there will be something, so don't get all your panties in a bunch.

    Patience is a virtue.
