Not sure I'm allowed to post about this, and no one cares, but yesterday was so fun. Surf was up for 5 hours. Went to Island Beach State Park with friends and family just for a day at the beach. SI predicted 2.5 ft @7 secs but I was stoked to find consistent stomach high waves with occasional chest high peaks. All day! Had my 9'2". Dropped in on a wave that walled up so nice and I was dragging my hand in the face. Almost forgot what glide and speed felt like this summer! The wind killed it around 4:30 but I was wiped by then. The kids saw a seal too, they thought it was a dog at first. Great day.
Thanks for sharing your stoke. You just put a smile on my face, even after looking at the bismal surf forecast. I've had some real surprise days like that before too. Happy to hear you got yours, and thanks for bringing back some good memories. Can't wait for swell season.
Kudos, BassPlayer.........see people, the waves have been there this summer. I don't know what New Jersey/New York area some of these dudes live in.
But anyways, you saw a seal, Geddy Lee? In the summer? Oh oh.............Seals are usually a winter thang here in Jerz. If they start hanging here in warmer climes......well....you know what that means.......
yeah it was probably knee high at best in long branch. you're full of ****
IDK man, I believe it. In the summer it's all about knowing which spots pick up the smaller swells. Around here there are like 3 places that are my "go-to" spots when it's being forecasted as 1-3ft, only these spots pick up those swells normally, but what's funny is, you can literally walk down the beach, maybe a couple hundred yards from a spot that is breaking knee to waist and it will be absolutely FLAT. Not a car drive, a short walk. So It may be flat in your neighborhood but down where PJB is it might be waist high, it happens.
OCNJ (south side): the bass speakest the truth! Sunday morning was 2-3 with offshores giving a bit of a curl for short boarding. By midday the wind had dropped away but the swell seemed to pick up bit to keep it at 2-3 with nice long (50-100 yards) logging rides. even the wife was getting 25-50 yard rides. south winds blew it out in the evening. legit 3' with a few rogues coming in a but higher.
rode as many waves yesterday from 7am to 5pm as I have in pretty much any recent day. good times, few dolphins, no seals
