Soft waves for sure, but walled up enough to get a bunch of cutbacks going left. Bonus: the water felt as warm as its been all summer...i'd put it at 74 ballpark.

worst year of summer waves in many years. We always get something tropical in August.
The last actual "swell" on the east coast was Andrea- way back in June. The rest is pure garbage.

A lot of people must have bought brand new surfboards this past month

Brahs, keep the faith. I talked last night about impending swell in Mass (fictitious or not) and continued such talk/belief to my brahs this morning. Lo and behold, we've had knee to chest clean swell all day. I reckon a wave or two jacked to shoulder every half hour or so. 6-8 wave sets. Steady. Clean. With actual drops on takeoffs. In the sun. With scantily clad wahines rolling in the sand as pleased onlookers.

Blessed are those who believe in the unseen. Their faith shall be rewarded.

It ain't stopping here braddahs. I'm predicting mad swell in Maine through Wednesday. If it comes to pass, we are stoked. If not, we were stoked in days of excited anticipation and subjected only to a moment's letdown.

Repeat after me: There will be bombing surf at our break this weekend. Bombing surf.

The summer hasn't been GREAT, but it's been rideable more often than not. Plenty of small to mid-sized swells this summer. THERE HAVE BEEN FARRRR WORSE SUMMER'S THAN THIS ONE. If you didn't know that then you have no clue of what you speak.

If you haven't seen anything over 1 foot in New Jersey then you are either clueless, NEVER come close to the coast, or your spot trucking sucks.

    IT'S FRIGGIN SUMMER YOU MORONS........

SITTING AROUND WAITING FOR MAGICAL UNICORN SWELLS, POSTING COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, AND PASSING UP WAIST + SWELLS IS THE SIGN OF A 'TARD.

IT'S FRIGGIN SUMMER, WHAT THE TRUCK DO YOU EXPECT ?????

I am really beginning to suspect that a good 85% of Swellinfo.com members don't surf. This area rarely has the kind of waves they seem to be sitting around waiting for. OMG, it can be mid-July and they're hoping Tavarua is coming to their friggin favorite jetty. Surfing "garbage" is better than posting internet complaints.

    Go get wet.

OH and THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN HURRICANE SWELLS !!! You don't determine the quality of a summer based solely on the amount of tropical systems. We're not even supposed to get any tropical swell during two months of the summer. Then, you may get some activity in August, but the unofficial fall(AFTER LABOR DAY) is HURRICANE SEASON.

A sure sign of a novice is the one who thinks tropical activity defines a season, and those who don't realize the year's best waves are rarely from a hurricane swell.

    GAWD !!!!!

There have been ZERO thigh to waist high days in RI since August 10. That's 3 weeks. It's not rocket science. I have no idea what the hell is going on in jersey. I'm talking about my area.

Then throw a lil petrol in the tank and head up Rte 24. We've got bumps up here worth having. I'm your Stoke-a-holics Anonymous sponsor. I command you. Guarantee you'll be smuggling driftwood in the lineup after one run.
