Some of the houses could definitely be as you describe, but I was in two different Deal houses (right on the beach and owned by Syrians) and they were even more ostentatious than the outside. I agree that the main objective is to portray status, but its within their community, not intended for outsiders. They compete internally and from my experiences, could not care any less what any Gentiles, especially non-Syrians, think of them. I won't speak with regards to all of them, but some of them are legitimately wealthy - very wealthy. They're very tight-knit and they can do whatever they want in my opinion; as long as I can keep enjoying that beach for free!

during HS i used to work for a landscaper and all we did was lawns in deal/ocean/elebron/west long branch and most of the houses were empty inside except for some beach chairs and tv sittin on a milk crate i know they would rent furiniture when they had parties it was rather funny but hey to each his own

quick question.. i live up north but hit the beach all year round and know alot of locals...what would i be? cuz some kid called me a benny when i had my board on a flat day. but you never know what the surf is like till you get there right?

its their fault the speed limit goes down and traffic lights go on on rt 35 and make the wawa lines crowded so it takes me 25 minutes to get a sub when it would take 5 in the winter...

and they are the ones who complain when you are surfing too close to them (yeah i got complained upon)

ah well at least we get the weekdays without em for a few more weeks before they come down and rent the mega houses/small hotels

im not a local up north but im defiently am down south. and i ride a merrick and am thinking about getting another or local. and finally if i went up north and surfed your spot i would show respect to you guys just how i would hope if you guys came south that you would show respect to us locals.

Sorry man but your a benny. anyone who lives north of the Driscol Bridge, the bridge that crosses the Raritan river on the GSP, is a benny. Thats just the cold hard facts my friend... I don't hate cause there's nowhere for you benny's to park in my town haha!

this thread is about invader kooks,but i will elaborate.
if i ever paddle out at a foreign (not mine) break, I stay out of the way of anyone that looks like they might be a local.
when i'm out at my crappy beachbreak totally by myself from november and through the winter and then i see you on the first wimpy sunny warm spring day it's only natural that the war has begun.
if you surf,then you are a local,because you live at the beach.
if you don't live at the beach,you don't surf,you are just a gay non-local invader kook with a surfboard.
