i was wondering if anyone ever surfed Acapulco area. I travel to a town 2 hours south of Mex city (Cuernavaca) often and i have a driver who could run me 2.5 hours south east to Acapulco. I looked at all of the surrounding areas on the coast Acapulco is the closest. I could always fly to Puerto but that would add an extra day to my trip.
While your down there don't ingest to much cocain and hookers it leads to the dimise of surfers. Remember if your going to be a hoe be a paid hoe. I also herd of this secret spot down there called Beaner lane. Its soposed to be a sick right next to a bean farm.
anyway, there's thousands of good breaks in Mexico you just have to happen upon them at the right time. Near Acapulco is going to be beach breaks... Revolcadero, Bonfil etc... up the road a bit is Saladita and Playa Linda etc... The reef breaks are a little further north maybe hour or so.
Like I said though, there are so many breaks down there probably most never mapped or talked about much. I have a friend that lives over there and his house sits on a reef that fires like Escondido. Bout the only people that know about it or ever surf there are him and his house guests. He found it while on a wandering surf trip in a RV years ago and because his family has lots of $$$$ he built a house there and lives there a good part of the year.
That's what surf trips are all about though. Finding your own uncrowded paradise right? (and coke and hookers!)
Get on Google Earth and match the future swell models from Surfline etc... and see if you can't find yourself a good spot to call your own.
i would love to take a month and cruise the coastline exploring. Unfortunately with the job and fam I just don't have the time. i was looking for a little one day excursion if theres a swell in the water. Drive out that morning and back that night for the night flight home.
I guess Barra vieja might be the best case?
i appreciate your help. Ill let you know what i find as well
A quick search on Google Earth shows Revolcadero. It's much closer than Barra Vieja. It looks like it's in El Marques and shares the same beach as BV. I'd bet you could find a wave down there pretty easily.
I surfed the area north of ixtapa and thought it was pretty crappy considering it's location...lots of closeouts or mush. Saladita and a couple of even harder to find spots just north were o.k., but disappointing overall.
check out surfline and wannasurf for spots...but you may want to lower your expectations. The river mouth just south of barra vieja looks interesting, but get a hepatitis vaccination and a big board before you go

I know all the spots that Swell and Surfline talk about and I have google earthed them a bunch. I was curios if some had insight that actually paddled out or knows the water well. New spot by my self make me a little cautious.
that river mouth looks great from google earth at Barra, I herd its really dirty and sharky?
