I took my 15 yr old son to his first real concert experience and it blew his mind....
We got mingle with the performers (they were just wandering the infield all day...)
It was the best example of the music culture I love that I have ever seen... every pit was HUGE and insane but every slam, every punch, kick, whatever was met with a smile a slap on the back and a smile... every man that went down was helped to his feet by the same guy who wrecked him... and we did it again... all day long for 2 days.... This was the best time of my life and sharing it with my son was the greatest gift ever! and my son got to see where his dad got his rep ;op
50,000+ having the time of our lives...
To take it a step further, although the waves sucked they had a surf demo on the beach... we got to paddle out with Rob Trujillo, the Caballero brothers, and others. (They were being TOWED into 1'-2' slop but was amazing to watch... all smiles.)
Vans Skate demos all day, Jim Brewer Comedy...
BTW>>> I am a live sound engineer and have done sound for some greats... (Misfits, MOD, SOD, Mucky PUP, SoulFly to name just a few) I don't count those shows, I don't get to really enjoy it and let go; its work.
I want to give a shout out to Murder League All-Stars, SHAT band NJ, and WRENCH NYC. Check these bands out if you live in the NE. They play oput all the time and check'em out if they are in your area.
