Question - can I hire everyone on this thread to help get it going? We'd have all the bases covered. Finance, marketing, advertising, logistics (our own train driver guy), security, welding (are your beads water tight?), sales, IT, etc. Forget a nano-brewery...let's just go straight to the mega brewery.

Perks: you'd be one mile from a break and your boss loves to surf. Need I say more? Whos with me!

Water tight as can be! im down!

So basically, I'm just curious, what do all you guys out there do? You know when you're not shredding 23 footers on the weekend. What do you guys do for a living? Do you like what you do? Do get to surf as much as you'd hoped? Do you have any regrets about the career path you took?

Personally, I recently graduated from a pretty average college with a pretty average business degree with pretty average grades. I'm currently unemployed, and looking to get a job with a company I'm passionate about, but I know that is unlikely. What is more important, personally, is being close to a beach I can surf. I've been applying to all sorts of companies, jobs, and locations, but I'd like to hear what some of you guys do, whether you like it or not, whether you'd go back and do it differently.

Also, as an east coaster, I'm looking to make the move to the left coast, any advice on how to go making the big leap out there? Is it better to just move everything out there then find a job from there? Or try to get some bites while living on the Eastside?
I am an account executive at an advertising agency in San Diego, CA.
Grew up in NJ, went to school near AC (Stockton) worked for 2 years at Resorts casino then at the Hilton (now atlantic club).

Moved to San Diego 2.5 years ago, I surf every morning.

    Advice on moving:
get 3K, a friend that will let you crash on the couch. Surf your face off for two weeks, eat california burritos everyday then bust your ass looking for a job.

you can make 17/hour cleaning boats to keep money in your pocket - BUT being from the east coast, im sure you hustle. Cali folk are slow and dumb. Make the move, you WONT regret it!!!!

Plus the chicks out here are hot and slutty

Yeah dude! I was sort of looking into ad agencies and marketing agencies as a way to get the opportunity to work with a bunch of different clients. I heard working with agencies is the best, as you meet tons of different clients and get a feel for different industries. That's awesome you made the move out there, I need to grow a pair and do it. Do you like what you do being an account exec.?

Love those friends!! That's who I stay with out there. Except I fix up their house with projects while I'm there and they want me to stay longer. Wired up wifi for them off Cat5 last week. My next project in a few weeks when I go back is setting their deck up nice with some hammocks.

Great scouting report for making the Manifest Destiny. That's all pretty accurate.
