It looks like an Easterly swell has arrived - I hope it's getting in to the beaches by now. I have to make Spinach-shetake calzones this morning so I will miss the high-tide session at 9:19AM (high-tide).
Tide is pretty neap today - 8.9 ft. high, like 1 foot low. That means well, it just means less reflections off of the seawalls.
Time to surf. There isn't much in the forecast so get it now while it's here and the winds are reasonable cooperative.
Don't quit your job and don't look for a government (G-job) unless you are a consultant like myself!
PS Notice how I spell shetake (the censorship script nabbed my original spelling)

Boston-area surfers, there is swell on the buoys this morning - go surfing!

The shetakes need to be soaked for a half hour in water since a small number of the shetakes are real tough - most of the shetakes only take about 5 or 10 minutes to rehydrate.
I should have told everyone to quit their jobs - the swell was fabulous in Hull! I spent about 4 hours in two sessions with two different shortboards. The neap tide caused an extended period of mid-tide behavior so almost all day (other than extreme low-tide for about an hour) was perfect. Definitely a few head-high sets or better. The wait for a ride was only like seconds to a minute or so. Constant pumping swell - now my right heel is sore (I don't think it's a disease, perhaps a bruise).
For the records, my calzone recipe is straight from the British chef Jamie Oliver on tv - I just subbed the shetakes for the regular mushrooms. I have two more giant ones still to eat.
Nice sharing the stoke with everyone out there - I also got to film one of my wild squirrel-buddies and met a real nice South African Bull Mastiff named May. What a difference a day makes in a man's life! Just takes a little tropical swell.

Last night was smaller but clean as hell and mad stokey. This morning was a complete waste of time with pure closeouts. Let's hope this good swell is not lost on excessively high tide and winds. Damn man.
