Wow...face down floating indeed, wasn't looking good at that point. I saw an article on this this morning but not that clip, thanks Gaff, good find. Man, props to the ski driver for bailing the ski and grabbing the girl, that mighta been what made the difference.

Wow ... I'm really happy to hear she's okay now ... but per a previous thread on big-wave surfing, you simply can't count on the jet-ski, extra flotation, etc. to make up for weaknesses ... big wave surfers like Maya, Carlos, etc., etc. spend years honing their water survival skills for incidents like this where I'm sure seconds can mean the difference between life and death.

So, will she hang it up after this? Maybe someone should start a poll, as they seem to be the rage........Big waves are mucho dangerous, no? It's amzing that more people haven't succumbed to the overwhelming force of nature that is the big wave realm. Meanwhile, it's 2 inches back in Jersey.......

Coming this winter: Paddington Jetty Bear almost dies at Crystals.

Bassplayer pulls a lifeless Bear from the shorbreak as five foot "storm surf" rages mere yards away.......

Interview with Bassplayer spoken in Spanish and Portugese !! A sad note: As Bassplayer valiantly saves Bear, local kids break into his ride, and steal his vintage Hustler collection and $7.45 in spare change. Bassplayer later says that saving The Bear, "was, like, totally worth it." Right on, bru !!

That was sic. If she towed in on a Roy Stuart model, she would have made it all the way to the beach. Next time wait for the last wave of the set.

Looks like she grabbed onto the rock and starting eating all the backwash before she let go. Guy on the ski is a hero. Apparently she only has a broken ankle....
