Epictetus, if you get along with your sister, there's nothin wrong with spending time with the family.
Oregon's coast is gorgeous.
The water won't be warm, but if you can swing the plane ticket, think about Chile. They're cool with the Gringos, there's definitely bodyboard specific spots, and the vibe & development are distinctly different than Centro/Baja.
Bang for your buck, you can't beat Nica.
Either way just go dude. You've got a freedom many would envy. When life gives you pissfruit.... well, just go enjoy yourself.

I've been vacationing in Oregon/Washington for years and love the region! I don't think you could go wrong with Costa Rica either. I think it's just a matter of whether you'd rather be hot or cold on your vacation. Oregon winters are gray and rainy. Any time from June-September is excellent.

Bodyboard trip ideas -- should I visit my sister in Oregon?
I've been getting a little stir-crazy ever since my ex-wife kicked me out of the house, I think I need to do some travelling. Wondering if it is worth my while to go to Oregon? I also have a bodyboard buddy who lives in Portland...
My sister lives near Eugene -- this is like an hour inland from the coast...but maybe I can combine the trip with some beach-camping too, could be fun.
Or am I better off just going to Costa Rica or something? Baja/Mexico is out because it reminds me of my ex too much...
