Feels like the first day of summer

Went out for about 4 hours today at CB. Mid afternoon and the beach goers showed up in full force. Surfer's were everywhere and everyone was having a good time. I love it when people don't have really aggressive attitudes and just have a good time. The waves were really fun too. Consistently knee to thigh, and if you were in the right spot at the right time, a few of them wedged against the sandbar and jacked up to easily stomach high. I accidentally hit the one dude in the back of the head with my leashless long board, but he didn't seem to upset. I saw 1 stingray, 1 jelly, and there were 2 incidences where the fish started freaking out and jumping a good 50 yards out. That screamed 'shark' to me, but I just tried not to think about it.

Anyways, I had a blast and I'm glad summer is here. As much as I hate tourists, I have to show off to someone.

I wouldn't hate the tourists so much if they didn't throw trash and cigarette butts on the beach., oh, and the surfcasters who throw their lines out where people are in the water piss me off, too. But when I'm out in the surf any potential hostility I might have seems to dissappear.

It seems a bit scary to me the way the waves jack up over the sandbar, though. I mean, it's fun but you've got to be careful. I was out at the low tide Monday morning and I was catching waves that were doing that, and then I'd find myself dropping down into reallty shallow water that I could see the bottom through. I bodyboard so I usually do OK by yanking the nose back up as soon as I catch the waves. The surfers must be snapping their fins off left and right.

There was this one site where some people had been that left all kinds of trash. I picked up 2 water bottles, 1 coke bottle, a chip bag, and 2 styrofoam cups.

Oh yea, we definitely have to be careful. It'll be breaking 3 ft high in a foot of water. I've scracthed me knees up pretty badly like that.

i hate how the sandbars jack the waves up cause that was how i broke my board just a few days ago out at chrystal pier.

the trash has started showing up in atlantic beach also. people really dont care about making the beaches dirty.so if i see some body littering i will make it a point walk past them on the windward side and kick up a little sand. when they get pissed about the sand i can tell them i am pissed about the trash. well that is if they speak english. but thats a whole nother subject!!

When its breaking in like 4 foot of water and its chest high thats prolly one of the funnest waves to surf. Really good walls on the wave a some fun barrels. But my board is epoxy so they dont breack as easy.

my boards epoixy as well but some how i just took a nasty nose dive and broke the nose of it about 6-8 inches from the tip to where it's cracked on a sand bar. But the dude at sixty5ive surfboards who's contracted through sweetwater is fixing it for me as i write this, causew i dropped it off at sweetwater yesterday. But the dude fixing it from what i heard is really good, so i hope he does a good job fixing it. But what brand board is yours wb/Pirate surfer? Also cause it's epoxy doesnt mean it wont break easy trust me for a fact on this one.

lol, I put a hole in the rail of an NSP by messing around in a concrete swimming pool on it. Stupid, I know.

My brother and I have said thing to people before about not leaving their trash. Its usually in a stern but polite voice, "I'd appreciate it if you didn't leave your trash here." They give you a funny look, but pick it up. My brother has also gone to people who cast thier fishing lines right where we are surfing and said, "It'd be cool if you didn't cast out right where we are surfing." It usually doesn't work. I'd like to find a tiny folder knife and keep it in my pocket to cut their lines, but I'd be afraid to surf with a knife on me.

Last summer I was out with a bunch of people and this kid, probably 15 years old, paddled out with a balck and mild in his mouth. I paddled over to him and said very sternly, "I hope you are planning on putting that in your pocket." He acted like a smartass, but I'll be damned if I didn't watch him put the plastic tip in his pocket. He was small, I'm a fatass at 5'9" and 230. He didn't want any

i'll be real quick to say something to a poser with a black and mild in his mouth on the paddle out. what a tool.

about the litterers, i do more driving on the highways in the triangle than on the beaches and i must say there are some filthy people here in nc. i mean really, sometimes i'll see a whole bag of garbage strewn out across a 1/4 mile of I-40 or I-540. and who cleans up after them? the criminals serving time, of course. i wish litterers were caught and forced to pick up their own waste.
