    Paddling with a GoPro

I purchased a GoPro 3 for my upcoming trip to Puerto Rico in late december and really don't want to mount it on my surfboard. Wanted to know is it someone difficult to paddle out into the lineup with one of those things in your hand?

yeah I've tried it numerous times and found it difficult every time. your best bet is to bite down on it some how but thats risky considering you could lose it. bring a friend and take turns filming.

Borrow Roy's space helmet and mount it on that thing using the kindling from his Hotkurl spaceship wave mobile

HAHA I kid I kid, although that would be a sweet gopro mount I doubt it would withstand the beatings from the 23'ers you'll be getting footage of. I have a Gopro that I have yet to use even once, my wife bought it for me for my B day a few years ago, i got the fcs fin plug installed on the nose of my board to use it when I actually bring myself to giving it a try, it looks pretty solid when you put on it, pretty sure it wouldn't fall off on that unless the mount broke or the finplug rips out of the board, which are possible in some heavy surf, but if we're talking HH and under it's pretty safe i'd think. If you don't want to get the plug installed, then get a wrist or chest mount maybe, idk, never tried em, but looks like it would work

The latest rage is definitely the mouth mount. I've seen ones that have an elastic band that fits around your neck and attaches to the GoPro so you won't lose it if it falls out of your mouth.

If you do lose it, well, you could always trying your hand in this free GoPro giveaway contest: http://gopro.storeyourboard.com

I made a head mount. Took the chest mount it came with and cut it and sewed some pieces together and put a little chin strap on it then tie it to the string on my back zip just in case. I look stupid, only used it once. Did get some cool shots but I'd rather surf then worry about the go pro. I'm pretty sure go pro makes there own head mounts now. Try rigging something up

I've thought about using a grip and tying it around my hand to make sure it doesn't slide off, I'm to much of a puss to try it out in bigger surf so waist to head high will have to do.

They make a pack of stick on mounts, you can put it anywhere you want on your board and if you don't like it you can always pull it off and throw it away. Give it a try and worst comes to worst there never permanent.

Youtube how to make a mouth mount they work really well. Get a floaty backdoor so if you drop it, it'll float.
