Question JJF - a new move?

was watching vids of him recently at pipe - when he drops to the bottom backside he
reaches in and 'rudders' with his right hand on a backside bottom turn. obviously i'm not
kelly but never seen this one before - anyone?

No, it's an old one. Called a layback.

ya got me tinkin. maybe it Is a layback.
but the arm on a layback is a pivot.
    he's ruddering.
which i guess could be a layback where (the rest of us) wouldn't normally see one.

Laird Hamilton did this at Teaupoo years ago. He even talks about dragging the right hand backside in a movie (forget which one).

Does Laird every ride anything where he's required to do a pop-up?
