I was talking to a couple of life guards today at the inlet when I was checking the surf. And, according to them.... the OCBP would be more likely to modify surfing beaches more frequently if they started receiving mass e-mails from everyone. We should all team up and start sending e-mails on the better days or even a day before we know it will be good. That way we're not all coralled between yellow lifeguard stands like a bunch of cattle.

Don't get your hopes up!!! As the season gets into July and August the chances of the OCBP modifing become extremely slim.

its a city decision - the lifeguards alone dont get to decide what the rules are.

when it's modified you can surf. it usually only happens if its a real good swell, like charlie said, in july/august it won't happen much, but in the spring and fall with good swells it will.
It's worth a try. I will look for a general e-mail address for the OCBP unless someone already knows it. It seems like years ago they would modify it more often then now a days. Especially when the weather isn't as apealling to the massive amount of sun bathers and those that just wade in the water. Larger swells/waves too since the typical tourist doesn't usually swim to the outside break. Besides, whenever waves come, the surf is coming from the wrong direction for the street that the surfing beach is on that day.
