well i broke my favorite board, but some dude backed over it at wrightsville.
I overcome this fear by not laying my board down in the parking lot.
but how do you overcome it when you break it while surfing. But where do you surf in wb
i cracked a glassed on fin on my shortboard on that day we had good surf. now its totally waterlogged in the tail because i didnt want to paddle in from good waves.
and i just had that exact spot repaired less than two months ago.
what a bummer.
From what I've heard of your incident, I'd say to stay away from the really shallow sandbars and just surf slightly more conservatively than you normally would, especially for late takeoffs on not so deep sandbars, that's probably where you might be likely to damage the nose.
would medium high tide be bvest so the sand bars arent as shallow as they would at low tide.
are you refering to me? i didnt hit the sandbar, i think it was either from a hack attempt or from running over masons leash. and its an old board too, way past its prime. i need to put some sun cure or something on it.Originally Posted by adowcett

i bought a 5'10 Lost AVISO... so, i'm not afraid of anything...
went from breaking 2-3 fiberglass boards a year, to having the same performance board for over 1 year, without a single pressure ding
man i know the feeling. my only fish is a very brittle 6'0 super fish 7 and it's the only stick in my quiver that i'll ride when it's below waist-high. i dropped this thing the other day by accident on a wooden crosswalk over the dunes and just like that, another gash in one of my rails.
i just carry a jug of resin around and glob it on there whenever it happens... i must've repaired this thing like 2-3 times professionally and like another 4-5 by myself. it sucks, i am thinking of buying another fish, but on the same hand after it's repaired it still rides real well. just gotta be very careful with it when out of the water and try to grab your board or at least your leash when you bail so it's not completely at the mercy of the wave.
