Pretty pi$$ed off. Sat my board on my roof rack to take my gloves off, and a gust of wind got it and flipped it onto the corner of my rack before I could grab it. Left a sizeable ding on the bottom right next to the rail. Just great. Still feeling like a complete jackwagon.
have done a few successful suncure fixes on older boards in the past - this ding is a little deep for suncure methinks, but not large enough I need to shell out a benjamin or two to have it mended professionally..especially since I don't plan on selling it.
Are there any resin/epoxy recipes out there that have worked for you guys? Not trying to make it look like it never happened, just want to get the flush, smooth finish back (durability is a plus as well). Thanks
Youtube is full of good vids showing repairs. Post a pic of your ding, it'll help recommend a fix.
Sand around the ding, tape off the area, mix your resin and microballoons properly based on the instructions. Fill the hole, let it set, sand it smooth then cut a small fiberglass patch and resin it up, let it set then sand. One more coat of resin or until you don't see the patch then sand and polish.
That's a pretty easy fix. It'll be a good confidence booster for you. I'd pull the glass that got pushed in and cut it out. Sand all around it about 2" from the long sides and a little past the tips. Mix up the resin and balloons and follow the directions above.
