All my quiver is local, I guess. All from CA, but shaped by Micah Shannahan and George from plus one. Actually, I do have one Sharpe Eye Disco and I have a 7'2 hawaiian gun that I bought off craiglist for the swell of the decade. Used it about twice a year. Some years, not at all. In retrospect, I probably should have given that one to a friend out there before I moved. I can't imagine needing to dust that puppy off ever again.
But at any rate, I will wear my fire retardant wetsuit next time i'm up in the MD VA area. Just in case =)
And with that being said, can someone please tell me where to find a local shaper on Hilton Head? They don't even sell fins, resin or glass at any shops in this town, much less have a local shaper.
What to do? I guess I could continue to have Micah shape for me and ship it, but that will be costly even with his "bro deals". And he is an amazing shaper, I am sure he could accommodate me, but I don't know if he would be the guy to design a board for HHI when he has never been here.
But yeah, I literally don't know any shapers around here. I am sure there are some up in Charleston, but the waves in Folly are nothing like the waves down here. Similar, but I wouldn't consider that local. That is like living in OC MD and getting a board shaped in VB. Not really the same deal, ya know?
I guess I need to start my own shaping business. Micah was always cool about letting me tool around, watch and help while he shaped for me, so I understand the basics, but Have never crafted a board from start to finish... I really, REALLY want to though.

I've only built and ridden one... but it was a retro style one... a five-finnner, with thick, down rails, wide nose and wide diamond tail. It rode pretty good, but could have used some modernization... from template, to rocker, to foil and rails. I'd love to take on the project... I think we should all pitch in and build one, and pass it around. I'm serious... I volunteer to do the dirty work. We'll all learn a lot...

I have gawked at surfy surfy and checked CL for years. finally got my hands on a moonlight CB bonzer THRUSTER... wasn't what I was looking for and sold it for the $$ but I got a sense for malcoms work. The only thing I think is a big different between the boards I rode normally and the bonzers/moonlight work I have felt is the weight of the glass and board. They are much heavier than my lost andmerricks.
Regardless, I just got a new job and am searching for a deal on a CB everyday...ebay has a 68 in NJ that looks sick for 230$ but it is not what Im looking for.
Also , I mentioned to surfboardshredshow to do bonzers and everyone backed my request but then that douche brought out another board and tried to explain the bonzer concept. BOOOO that guy with the lisp!
