    Diamond Back Terrapin Nesting Season

To all surfers traveling between Bethany and Dewey, Diamond Back Terrapin is a threaten species of turtle that cross Highway 1 to lay eggs along the shore of the Rehoboth and Indian River bays. Nesting season starts May 1st. If you see one of these crossing the highway, safely help them cross if possible. Delaware has cut all of the funding for all projects protecting them. This site has a little more info about the turtles http://delaware-surf-fishing.com/201...esting-season/

    bravo! excellent & timely post!

the same goes for nj...i see too many squished terrapins in the road every year & it pisses me off. if you can't stop & help the poor gal on her way, how hard is it, really, to just not kill the things? they're like small, slow moving rocks, not squirrels that haphazardly dart 6 different directions in .5 seconds.

I love stopping traffic on Ocean Drive to help the little buggers cross. It pisses off the shoobies who are always in a hurry to get somewhere. I thought you were sop posed to come here to relax?
