    A sure fire way of telling a beginner from a veteran is fin position. Fins belong forward, just like turning a baseball hat backward when heading into the wind.

    Of course. Just ask any of the hall-monitor types who will tell you so. Also:

    Don't carry your board wax side in, no matter if you are wearing a wetsuit and are about to go belly down on the wax anyway.

    Don't wear the wrong kind of slippers. Everybody knows the kind that real surfers wear.

    Always keep to the right walking down the hall. (And don't skip!)

    Always slide the tail at least a foot in the sand behind you for photo ops, and try not to block the weight bench.
