    San Diego Area Housing

    Hey guys,

I'm going out to California sometime in the next few weeks and need some place to stay. Ill be in the San Diego area for a few months. I'm on a pretty tight budget so any place thats gonna cost a fortune is out. Anyone have a spare room or couch they wouldn't mind renting? Help a brother out!!

There's a youth hostel in PB at the end of a certain street that's pretty nice. Gets some waves and you can watch the sunset from the balcony. Can't remember the name or the street right now.

Yeah, there is an international only one right by the OB pier, but a regular hostel out by Point Loma High on Voltaire as well. Check craigslist for rooms. I found one to crash in for FREE for two weeks when I first moved there because I left before my apartment was ready. It was in La Mesa, but free is free.

Grommet, do you know how much the Catamaran costs per night? I want to say last time. I checked it was a little over two bills. Now someday when you're paying for your own wax and who knows maybe a surf trip or two, you might feel the need to economize. The youth hostel I alluded to is 3 blocks from the Catamaran and even closer to the surf. It also cost about 25-30$ a night, or at least that's what was about 15 years ago.

Nice thing about youth hostels is that there are adventurous types there, most of them with sexy accents and lowered inhibitions.

I actually worked and lived there for 3 months cleaning toilets right after I turned 21. I just didn't want to name a spot. I still have friends who live on Oliver and Reed Streets who surf right there. One of the most fun and carefree times in my life. 50$ a week, free room and board, breakfast and dinner, a new flock of European girls every week, and every Saturday night all the beer I could drink. I'd wake up before dawn every morning and jog down to the Mission Beach Jetty and then back to the pier and follow it up with a surf right out front.
