    The Future of Surfing?

I couldn't help but contemplate whether this is the future of surfing. Regardless, what this guy does on a skimboard is crazy.

Towing in on a skim board???? Not my cup of tea. If I want to smell 2-cycle.....I'll take my boat and go fishing.

ya I posted that clip a little while back. dunno if it's really the future or not, perhaps just some freak with incredible genetics who can ride a potato chip like it's nothing on waves most would sh!t themselves just being in their presence

No fins....no length....no rocker....no rail....and this guy is killing it.

And then there's the video of Slater surfing on a fkn table.

Kind of makes all those shaping arguments a little less relevant.

My bad on the repeat. I missed your post. Really really cool though. I tried surfing some small waves finless last weekend. It's really hard, but good for a laugh. I had about a 5% success rate of making it to my feet and staying there (for a few seconds). This guy makes it look easy.

no worries brotha, it was a while back and on a thread about the wedge anyways lol. but yeah it's ridiculous. when I see that dude surf (or skim.. whatever the fck it's called) it makes me think of the retroesque alaia boards and this guy is using a skimboard as a modern version of it. if they could use a material that would allow those things some more float and paddle ability now that might be the next step of surfing evolution. he's getting towed into a lot of those bombs and already has a decent amount of speed at the beginning of each ride.

next thing you know this guy is going to be charging super sized chopes getting whipped in on his skimboard while all the pros and big wave chasers are sitting in the channel scratching their heads wondering wtf is happening

That would be a spectacle to behold! I'm leaving work to surf now. I'll be bringing my fins though.
