    El Salvador Advice

Ahoy, I'm going to El Salvador for the entire month of August in search of waves. My beach loving lady is also coming with my surf mate and little bro. Any advice is greatly appreciated. US state department has put out several travel warnings of violence, kid napping and robbery. Can we stay along to coast to avoid trouble? Prob going to start in El Tunco to score Sunzal then move around. Worth getting a car? I'm brining boards. Many thanks!

Make sure you work out your legs (and arms for that matter). Long waves with even longer paddles...

Stop by the Shredmachine before you leave. Sneak him in a pack of smokes during visiting hours and he will probably give you the low down on the whole place. Leetymike and him spent some time down in ES.

Really though, no car needed. El Tunco is a good starting point. The place your staying should be able to hook up rides to other spots for a reasonable price. ES is fairly safe along the coast in most spots, but a guide is HIGHLY recommended, especially if it's your first visit. The problems you read about are mostly in San Salvador. Avoid that place and your prob cool. ES is epic and not hard to find good times and good waves. Cool locals too. Have fun!

Hahah it was a chance encounter!!

But el sal so far is my favorite place. Loved every second of it. Not dangerous if you arent stupid, as is the call with most places. El Tunco is good. A buddy of mine from Maui moved down there after the trip. I beleive hes still there running a spot in tunco. His names Edward. His place is probably pretty chill. I havent seen it, but i know his style.

Tunco is dope and you def have to hit Flores and Mango. Huge bang for the buck in ES. Glad you're bringing you're on broad because it's not wuite a party spot and everyone there seems to be all bout the surf. In bed by 10, up by 5.

Lastly, there are A LOT of dogs in El Salvs yet not many dog owners in El Salvs. If you understand that. Not that it will affect you much but you'll see what I mean.

And get ready for la barista to ask "¿Algo más?" after every cerveza you order.
