    Demons & Prophets

I'm going in for surgery in a week, so I wanted to put this out there. It's a tale of the seeker and his journey to find the lost child within the gates of the drowned city. It's a story of love and light trying to vanquish the forces of darkness and decay. There are a couple of half assed surf scenes in it, so please bear with me.

    Chapter 1.

    Battered and Banished

Storm tossed by the angry sea, adrift, lost, alone. and scared.
Illuminated from above by hellish bolts of cobalt,
Sizzling and hissing and then, BOOM,
The ozone envelopes him and the hairs on his arms stand up,
As soldiers at attention before battle at the break of dawn.

Battered by waves in the angry sea,
Tossed about on a tiny craft,
    Land a distant notion,
    A far flung dream.

    Draamanu clinging to the gunnels,
Draamanu retching bile and foam back at the cursed ocean.
Draamanu praying to the ancient gods of wind and water.

    Thanks brother.

    Chapter 2

    Illumination and Pain

Searing hot sun, singular torch, ball of fury, white taunting source of life.
"How, why does it hate me?," Draamanu cries thru parched salt caked lips,
Swollen lips that thirst for water,
Swollen lips that ache for food,
Salty dry flaps wishing for the sweet taste of discourse.
"Someone hear my cry", Draamanu yells to the seven directions.

Beseeching the east, Draamanu pleads for illumination, for knowledge, for bearing, so he may return home.
A mighty eagle parts the sun and with a piercing cry of triumph, swoops down and snatches Draamanu with his steely talons.
All breath leaves, all life ebbs, Draamanu soaring, then slipping,
Falling down, down, down, back into the angry sea.

Immediately plucked up by a small reedy vessel. paddled by a lone brown figure,
Draamanu cries in agony as the demon's hand grabs his arm and lifts him out of the ocean,
    It's touch burning his flesh.
"You seek illumination, you seek knowledge, you haughty child", yells Malekrakon,
The writhing creature that was once a man but is now certainly not.

    Chapter 3

    Prophesy of the Lost Child

Raped and forgotten, his soul a pool of remorse.
Draamanu cries and begs for release from the searing pain of the demon's touch.
"Providence", Your holy light, rescue me from this cursed night,
    Draamanu implores the heavens,

Thru the mist of an apparition is revealed, a pale ghostly figure surrounded by eerie luminescence.
    Unbearable radiance blinds Draamanu,
    Shielding his eyes.

"Seek the lost child and it will be found within the gates of the drowned city",
    Solomajellian the prophet implores.
"You must leave at once, seek the warm green lands.
There in lies the ancient city on the banks of a mighty river
    That flows like a snake
Thru the lands of the lost souls".

    Chapter 4

Blinded by the awesome light of the ancient prophet was it a dream?
Draamanu cries out to the gods of the south.
"Oh, warm gentle breezes, bring me healing,
    Bring me innocence,
    Like a rabbit that plays
    In the forbidden garden and
    Feeds from the sacred herbs.

The trees began to rustle with drops of a fine mist carried
By a sweet breeze of flowers and honey and exotic spices.
    A melodic murmuring becomes incessant,
Agonizing, threatening in it insinuation of lust.
The trees part imperceptibly as the sound ecomes a blanket,
A morphine mind-masking shroud of perfume and musk.

Odijrastra, the temptress, descends upon Draamanu
Like a great bird of prey,
A succubus that extracts all that is good and pure.
Draamanu's screams of agony and despair are
Muffled by her folds of flesh.

Not sure what all this stuff is, but good luck on your surgery. Hope it's nothing too serious.

I like these two stanzas a lot. Good luck on your surgery.

DawnPartolSUP and zaGaffer - thanks for the positive energy! Clemmy, I wish I knew how to scan and upload the illustrations my buddy Josh Quick did, they are fantastic and otherworldly images of doom and rapture. Maybe I'll figure it out. I'm getting a tumor (benign) removed from my salivary gland, it's about the size of a golf ball. They say in 3 weeks or so I can resume "normal" activities. Hopefully I can get out there in September when we usually start to get H swells. Thanks again for all the good wishes, they are appreciated.
