    Is it wrong that I'm already thinking about what my next short board will be? I "need" one in the 5'10-6' range, a true HPSB for GOOD waves.

    I think the anti-longboard thing started in the mid-70s. Ironically enough, about the same time the anti-disco movement started. You are right about them being run out of town too. I recall one of the first times i ever hit the surf beach in OCMD around 82. Some guy showed up with a log and there was a full on mob scene.
