they now have a new idea that my fluids teacher is running through my school where they got money from the state to run this project and possibly if everything works out right, do a complete restoration on our beaches in long branch which is supposedly beneficial to surfers with waves...

Kind of agree...but they have been working on this for nearly 4 years...

And for them to restore the beaches to how they used to be when it took awhile to walk out (almost 50 to 75 years ago in much of northern MC) is nearly impossible in many areas of MC due to the extent of the erosion (steeper slope, greater depths), and the cost to rehabilitate this back to this state..all of which has been exasperated by the lack of foresight in the development of certain properties, esp. along the seaward-most reaches of Sea Bright, MB, Long Branch, etc., etc.....

Since there are no inlets to worry about clogging up in this area, they should think about overfilling certain downdrift reaches with larger lobes of sand, which will naturally migrate down the beach as points or cusps and naturally replenish updrift hotspots...but that is expensive too...
