Is it your actual bones that are sore and tender to touch or the whole area? Bruised or broken ribs usually happen on impact and you know exactly when it happens. You may just have an acute strain of your upper ab's or the intercostal muscles (the muscles in between your ribs) these are common injuries for surfers and you usually don't notice them until the next morning. That's why you see alot of old guys warming up and stretching before they paddle out. Either way there's nothing you can do about it, advil, rest, and enjoy the football on sunday

Thanks it is deffnitly not a break or i probaly wouldnt be able to breath or walk. intercostal musclesis what feels like, because i am still able to lightly stretch. i was able to surf through it, just might take a couple days off so im good to go for the weekend.

Surfed nonstop this past week and i am feeling sharp pains other than the usual sorenes. It is even hard to bend down or pick up my arms. Anyone ever have this problem before, and could my ribs be really bruised from surfing? Hope it clears for sunday!
