    long period swell today

12-14 second swell showing on the buoys. Swellinfo has tracked this down pretty well, but remember that the tides will play a significant role with the longer period stuff.

AHHA.. Micah...too bad it's not a repeat of Sunday!

What do you think would be best to get out on? The incoming tide?

for delmarva, the incoming mid to high tide is generally best for the long period swells for a lot of areas.

yeah your forecast was right on for OCMD this morning. Mostly waist high but with a few chest-shoulder sets here and there, only with the typical long period swell lulls. broke right through high tide if you knew where to go.

IRI and DE spots north of there were about half the size - knee-waist - and weak. it seems like theres some swell shadowing in DE esp. further north you go for swells that have any ene in them and that was really noticable this morning.

    What I found. . .

was a REALLY long period mid-town OC. Like maybe a half hour between decent sized sets. I know. . . that's not possible. . . but you needed considerable patience to make it a really fun day. Yesterday was much more reliable. Perhaps as the tide drops. More of a North swell than a dead east one. Lefts held up much better than the rights, but there were some occasional nuggets to be had. Water temps are dropping.

    tomorrow?

Lower period swell is supposed to be around tomorrow (11-12 sec vs 13-14). Think this will make the waves a little more consistent or less time between sets?
