Thread: Local shapers?

    Local shapers?

I broke my summer thruster a couple of weeks ago and have been shopping for a new board. I'm looking for something in a fish/thruster hybrid. Are there any local shapers that anyone would recommend. I figure a local shaper would shape more for the waves we get around here. Looking for P/U around 6'2". Any thoughts?

its a good idea to get a custom board from a local shaper. i really like my brian wynn board (south nj tho) and wouldnt hesitate to get my next from him. cosmic bull in long branch has a good rep, aguaholic has anoter monmouth county shaper you could check out too

i recommend a quad/tri setup, keeps it really versatile and its just 1 extra fin box. since your getting it custom anyway, the quad works great in small stuff and you can put the tri in for bigger days, or just use bigger quad fins

    shapers are the core

You are on the right track. custom is the way to go, the costs are very similar and you can get exactly what you want out of the design and shape. there is no substitute for a hand shaped wave axe and you can be proud to support the local surf economy. Builders and shapers are the core of the sport, working hard to stoke you out. Good luck
    P.S. offer to pay cash
