    La Niņia

    La Niņa appears to be on its way. What do you think that this could mean for surfing in the gulf this coming hurricane season?

    Hey,

    In general, La Nina is linked to warmer tropical SST's and greater than average hurricane activity.

    I'm not sure about specifics for the Gulf, but I'm assuming statistically the Gulf is likely to see greater than average storms as is the US east coast.

    I'm pretty stoked about the possibility for more waves this hurricane season. (especially after last years weak season in the gulf) On the other hand, more storms means more chances for disaster. lets just hope we get plenty of good surf with no real damage to anything.

    plus it seems like its been a weaker than normal winter for the panhandle... would you agree?

    yeah, i think it been a little slower than usual. the winter started off with a bang in november then it slowed down and never really picked back up that much. I have had some good times this season but overall i think it has been pretty weak.
