Yes, anyone voting in Maryland is voting on slots tommorrow. There will be a specific yes/no section on the matter. Ocean Downs (In West Oc) has one of the five projected spots across the state locked down. Slots will be there if it passes.
If this goes thru I imagine it will change the town considerably. The details of this thing are nasty. Big money going into already deep pockets. Politicians have made it a "doing it for the kids" thing, but we all know how they look out for the children and education systems.
I agree to say NO slots. It is a political scam to make the rich richer and take away more from the public.
Plus I don't care if they wanna make schools bigger and better anyway. They are already putting in two schools (another elementary and a high school) into my hometown of Manchester in Carroll county. Seems like they got plenty for schools already. Thats one of the reasons I moved to OC-so I could get away from the over-development.
Slots just seem like a bad idea and seem kind trashy
well if they legalize slots in maryland im sure dover downs would be a very prime spot for such a thing.. the boardwalk too
I think you are confused. You said "dover downes?" they already have a casino there silly! This thread is to talk about MARYLAND slots! Swellinfo...lets look on the bright side. remember surfing ac around palm sunday and hearing gunshots as we ran through the streets surfing tropicanas. if they put casinos in will they be big steele piers every 5 blocks. if so...lets do it! we need structure. seriously...i m just joking. i love the backwood feel. but i am voting in delaware...sorry?
Everyone should have easy access to vote. Although it is "fun" to all vote on the same day I am not going to be too sentimental about this notion. I recall when voting was conducted by everyone at one time with everyone locked up in the same room/facility for hours. We've come a long way! Washington State uses mail-in ballots only.
I am not voting for slots to benefit education or reduce taxes. I am voting for slots so that Maryland does not lose its thoroughbred racing industry. Maryland is losing market share to Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia because these three states have slots at the race tracks. The horse racing industry provides a large number and a wide variety of jobs in Maryland. I am voting to keep the money and keep the jobs in Maryland.
