Yeah, next Wednesday around midday looks alright. I'm a temporary west coast transplant and don't know how storms exiting the east coast correspond to incoming swell. In the Northwest everything was always approaching us. More like nor'easters out here.

Anyone care to explain what a storm system leaving the east coast would mean for swell heights in the days following?

"days" following? Oh MAN you ARE in for a rude awakening. Storms exiting the east coast will typically blow onshore/side hard for a day or so as it exits the coast. Find the lee of a jetty and you may have ridable surf during the storm passage. Typically in the winter the hard offshores clean up and then knock the swell down in within 24 hours after it exits the coast.
