My ass they do. Think about it, someone who has consistently good waves, and therefore surfs more, is definitely going to be a far better surfer than someone who only has fun waves once in a while, and therefore surfs less. They might make you better in the sense that you appreciate it when it's on, and have more fun and such.
Well, your skills get better instead of just sitting on the couch watching Seinfeld all day, so when the good swells come,you'll be able to make the most of it.
Besides, I went out today at around 2:30, and had one of the best small-wave sessions ever. No one out 'cept a few longboarders. I was on my fish, and I got some top turns off, I was so stoked because I've never really done that. You never know how a session will turn out until you go.
And to top it off, I stopped by at Sweetwater after to replenish my wax reserves, and these people where standing on the sidewalk, and as I walked past (I still had my wetsuit on) I overheard them: "Oh my god... There's people in the water now?"
You gotta lub them landlubbers, all cozy and what-not.
