I live in Virginia Beach and usually surf the North End, First Street Jetty, or Croatan. I have heard that Sandbridge has better waves and more consistent than any of the other spots. Does anyone have any input?
Yeah, it can be pretty good sometimes. I normally go to the 14th street pier but sometimes go to sandbridge. Sometimes when the oceanfront is only 1-2 sandbridge could be 2-4. Or the other way around . It breaks a little different there too, usually I find that it breaks closer to shore at sandbridge(not all the time). It seems like high tide has more of an effect on sandbridge than the oceanfront.
Croatan and First Street are the places to go. Sandbridge is normally a foot smaller and can't even handle swells over about 4-5 ft.
I think the municipal parking area where everyone goes is the worst spot in virginia beach. It used to be pretty good but in the last couple years its gotten pretty bad. It doesn't really hold any size. Sandbridge or the North End can probably hold the most swell in virginia beach.
Who cares if one spot is better than the next just get out and surf thats the only way to know. and if where ur at sucks go to the next.Life is way to short to cry about what is better just get in the water and do what you do.Peace to all.
