i think summer is swelltime for the south shore (waikiki island of Oahu) and offseason for north shore

South shore gets swell during the summer months. Crowded and localism is always a big part. Ala Moana Bowls in front of the public parking next to the Hilton Villages is a super fun hollow wave. Try surfing by Diamond Head, or one of the other reefs in Waikiki.

good, consistent surf on the south shore in the summer... lots of crowds. Generally medium sized waves, with an occasional overhead swells. Ala Moana and Kaisers are really fun waves.

    yeah

South Shore during summer gets the southern hemisphere winter swells, so you should get some waves. Go surf Kaisers. Paddle out in the boat channel, you won't miss it if you look toward the Hilton Village. Fun waves right off the channel. Watch out for the ferry boat. There's a spot to the left of the channel also. Outside waikiki breaks if it gets big enough, Diamond Head is also there.

Leaving for school in honolulu in August, looking forward to actually having a swell to count on at least once a week. It will be a big change from here

South Shore and North Shore are way different. That's probably why he was asking.
