    its all about last.fm. That site is the best for finding artists you have never heard of. Just go to a band you like, and at the bottom it will have list of artists who "sound like" the one you have chosen. From there you can just have a field day finding new great music you have never heard before. I'm a DJ and I spin multiple genera's, and let me tell you, this site is my secret weapon for finding new music.
