I am about your size and have been pretty happy with the BZ Big Bruddah. It is forty five inches and has two stringers. For a big guy you want a board that has a polypropylene core and that has stringers inside. Go for the BZ--it is about $200.
I teeter on the 200lb edge, and I'm 6'1" so a normal 42" wasn't cutting it for me. So I did research on new, bigger boards, picked up a Mike Stewart MS5 - 44", Double Stringers, solid board. Shipped from Deep.com for $189 and got a free t-shirt. Now I float more, don't nose-dive like I used to, and it's much quicker than my old BZ. Check 'em out.
My first board was a BZ Big Bruddah then I lost a bit of weight and now switched to a Turbo IV 43. Turbo also makes a IV version in 45. The Big Bruddah has a bat tail and the Turbo a crescent. I would go for the Turbo IV PP 45 inch over the BZ.
We've gotten great feedback on the Maxx, and being on the East Coast, PE is what I'd recommend to anyone riding year round in NJ. Moving up to the Maxx form the Big Kahuna will be a huge step up. If you want a stiffer board for warmer months or travel, the OC PP 45", the Turbo 44" or 45" IV (PP and FRC core) are great options as well. We have tons of other great boards in that range as well, including all the boards mentioned here and more. 1-3 days free shipping to anywhere on the East Coast (stock boards only) and lowest prices guaranteed.
