Well, I don't think anyone would argue that they have the biggest selection... Try one on there, find one you like, then find a core shop that carries that brand. Chances are, at a small shop, you'll be dealing with the owner when you go in this time of year, and could probably swing you a deal

I just finished reading the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It's a lot about a really radical socialistic Utopian society. It was kind of strange but sort of interesting. Anyone here read it?

I've read Animal Farm by George Orwell. it's about pigs being communists and what-not. It was kinda boring... I bet your book was better.

Who knows. I would like to read 1984 this summer. I've also been dying to read The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx as I am just finishing a history course that, as of late, has examined The Industrial Revolution and the rise of Socialism/Marxism. In theory it does not sound that bad (equality for the proletarians-working class as protection against mistreatment by the Bourgeois factory owners), yet we all know how Communism has played out in actuality in such countries as Cuba, Russia, North Korea, and China.

Now that we're in the subject of political history, who here thinks that the French Revolution was a total waste of time?

Zhou Enlai, Chinese Prime Minister from 1949-1976, when asked whether the French Revolution was a success, remarked that "it's too early to tell."

If one believes in Aristotle's philosophy of causality (every event has a preceding cause which was in turn caused by something else, or more simply put cause and effect) then one could view the French Revolution as a longterm cause of WWI. And since WWII was in essence a continuation of the same rivalries with the same goals/problems that were never truly resolved in the first world war, the French Revolution is even a longterm cause of WWII, and since our society, economy, and political stance have all been affected by WWII, one could then argue that the French Revolution was indeed necessary to spark this chain of events.

But then again based on causal belief, one could also trace the current state of the world as effected by the German Unification, English Civil War, Charlemagne, Germanic Tribes, Roman Empire/Republic, and even as far back as the philosophers of Greece and Alexander the Great.

You see Ledzep, every event has played its role in the shaping of the world as we know it today, so it would probably not be correct to state that the French Revolution was a waste of time.

But what do I know... I'm only 16 hahaha

Or perhaps you're stating that the French Revolution is a waste of time since you have to study for your history final this weekend. I have to study for my history final as well (it includes the French Revolution), so the French Revolution in that case was a waste of time since it is indirectly taking away my precious water time... oh well at least school's almost over (and there are no waves anyway)!

Perhaps the store BNW is claiming that they are a utopia like Huxley creates in the book. part of the reason i posted about the book is because i wanted to see if there was indeed a connection between the store and the book.
