    Question Anyone Surfed Belize?

    Should be going there in July on a Church trip. Just wondering if I should bring my board. Doing research now. Found this on a site:

    Long Caye enjoys the only surf break in Belize that is both accessible and safe (not breaking over live coral).

    Well just called them (Slickrock) and they own the island and their not open in June and July.

    Anyone know of any other spots I can go?

    dont bring your board unless you are going to that private island... thats the only wave.

    That's what I've learned. Ill try to do some snorkeling. Found out today they have some cool waterfalls to jump off of. oh well.

    supposed to be one of the best scuba diving in the world. So, should be awesome for snorkeling too...

    Take a fishing rod or fly rod with wading boots. The bonefish and permit are thick as flies and willing to attack any small lure and/or fly. Be aware of crocs when crossing deep areas-ALWAYS be on the look out. They are big, nasty and HUNGRY. Best bonefishing I have ever done. And yes the snorkeling and people are nice too. Have fun!

    man, i just got back from a 2 week diving trip. hit cozumel, belize and grand cayman. Belize is amazing. No waves at all, but the diving and snorkeling there is some of the best in the world. Belize hosts the 2nd largest coral reef in the world (Barrier being first). Do yourself a favor and dive, or at least snorkel. There are so many amazing spots there, just about anywhere will be awesome. Also, Belize City has some rough areas, so just watch your back, and stay with others! Enjoy the trip!

    No need for a board

    I spent two weeks sailing around the reef in Belize last June. The only waves I saw were maybe chest high and choppy on the outer reef. The reef is 20 to 25 miles offshore and blocks all waves from reaching the coast. Really not much worth surfing anyway.

    Thanks guys for the good info. Hope we can go snorkeling. They usually have a whole schedule setup way before we get there. He said something about cave tubing and jumping off waterfalls? We'll see.
