    coastal wedding

so, I am engaged now. my fiance and I live in san diego. every member of both of our families live back in the maryland area.

we have a few awesome beach locations for our wedding if we do it in cali. but I am looking for beautiful coastal wedding sites from as far north as md or jersey and as far south as wilmington area.

obx seems to rugged and lacks emenities. oc md is ok; but I have yet to see a really nice wedding location.

assateque and chincotegue are options, but again;that would be out in the middle of nowhere.

any suggestions? I think wilmington has a few good options, but I've never been. it is a possible relocation site for us eventually, but for now, we don't know much about the coast down there.

if all your family/friends are back in maryland, then choose a location close to them... There are plenty of nice places you don't have to make everyone hike too.

yeah, keep it in MD, it sucks to have to travel for a wedding. Unless of course you think you want to cut back the number of guests. Anyway, a friend of mind had a wedding at Merrimakers in Sea Bright, NJ. It was pretty sweet. Married on the beach and then partied in the reception hall only a few steps a way. There are hotels in Long Branch that can accommodate almost any size party as well. Plus you have the proximity to NYC if you want to make a weekend out of it...

save all your money and run away- far away- to some place warm with nicce waves all the time, like honduras or elsalvador, TRUST ME. marriage kills your surfing and wedding cake makes you fat!

My niece was married this past April in the park at the south end of Folly Beach, on the beach. There is a nice covered , 2-floor shelter there and food/drinks were catered in. Folly Beach wasn't too bad and Charleston is nearby. Very dog friendly place is Folly Beach, too. Just don't expect a lot of surf as it is rather fickle. You improve your chances of surf during the hurricane season (like during my sister's wedding in August some 12+ yrs ago).

I would say somewhere in DE, Bethany, Rehoboth, or Lewes. There are some nice places I have seen some in North Rehoboth area south of Tower Shores. I wonder if you could do it in Cape Henlopen, that would be super nice, on the north end near the cape.

What time of year are you thinking? A friend of mine got married in Henlopen in the middle of august. It was somewhat crowded, hot, humid, and lots of biting flies. But, it was a scenic location. My fiance and I are possibly considering it as a spot for an october/november wedding next year.
