on these short period S/SW swells the beginning of the swell generally is really small, as the period are short. Generally, you'll see the buoy wave heights decrease as the systems move offshore, but longer period swells move in and this generally fills in better for New Jersey.
a good rule of thumb for lbi is if its a southswell, go to the north jettys on the island, if its a e/ne go to the south jettys
