  1. Crowds will only be a factor at your premier breaks on the east coast. Close-outs will be the biggest problem... The men get seperated from the boys real quick in big surf on the EC. Most of the weekend warriors and seasonal residents arent equipped with mini-guns, they'll figure out real quick that dropping into a 10ft bomb is not going to work on their fish.

I'm not a weekend warrior/seasonal... I'm just broke, but I'm highly considering buying a step-up Craigslist style if the forecast remains the same.

This thread is useless without pics, damnit!!!

Honestly, for some strange reason that was the hottest post I've ever read in this forum.

Guys... relax. The swell isn't even there yet. Exhale. Wow. Oh, and for doh+ if you are on anything less than a 6'8 to 7'0 mini-gun, you might have some trouble catching the wave.
Just some advice from the Pacific side of things. Take it for what it is.

I'm 5'11 X 195. My step up is a 6'4 MC Bonzer 5 fin. Then for when the shiznit hits the fan I have the 7-oh CI MSG with the Occy fins. That's for when it's bigger than 10 foot faces. Guys, you need it just to catch the wave. Just because you see the pro's on a 6'2 on a 10 face does not mean that it's just as easy for you.

Be smart, surf safe, and use good judgment. If you think you might not be able to handle it, don't paddle out.

Best rule of thumb when deciding: "If I lose my board out there, would I be able to make it back in alive". If you say "yes", then paddle out, if "no", then take some great pics. No need to get in peoples way or even dying just to say that you paddled out. It's not worth it. You can one day build up to the point of being able to paddle out into that, but you need to have the confidence and the know how when dealing with a life or death situation.

You don't want to realize that you were in over your head when it fades to black.
    Surf smart.

And stop freaking out, everybody. It's just some good surf.
