I went out in Hurricane Felix swell waaaay back in '95 at Boilers in the OBX. I'm guessing that day the sets were rolling in at 10'-12'. The shore break was overhead and breaking in water 2' deep. That part sucked. Once I broke through that I got lucky and hit a slow period which was good because I was gassed. I punched through the lip of the first wave of a set and made it out. I was out there with a bunch of older guys on guns but everyone was cool. There were waves enough for everyone and I'll always remember the drop-ins on the big waves. Hope to make it out again for this swell and I'll second the hope that we get peaks and not walls. Have fun and be safe!

we all know bodyboarding is shunned by SOME of the surfing community, but everyones out for fun. im a surfer band i think that somebody on a sponge is just as much as a threat to wavecounts as another surfer. lets just have fun this weekend guys just catch some waves and get rid of the animosity

You fail at trolling... and English. Bodyboarders can paddle out in double overhead as evidenced by my and other people's posts in this thread. Did you bother reading or did you just see the word "body board" in the subject line and let your troll reflex get the best of you?

doesnt matter what u ride, on swells like this to make it out and make drops on any board shows that either style of rider put in time, learning, heart etc etc to be on that ability level to have a successful sesh and maybe even put on a little show for the ppl on the beach. enough with the non sense, be careful and watch over each other. this is what we all want every season.

agreed. It's a natural progression for alot of people. I bodyboard but would love to surf. Unfortunately I don't have the cash to get a board or have a local spot to always go to (living in staten island). It's just not worth for me getting into it. But we should all jsut go out, have fun and watch each others backs. I helped save a surfer caught in a rip a couple weeks ago. I didnt think twice whether he surfed or bodyboarded, we all just out for the waves.

how is bodyboarding for pussies you ****in stick ass donkey **** surfer.. what makes bodyboarders pussies, the fact that good ones ****in ride the most heavy shelfs and shorebreak and wedges and hit the biggest sections on the planet, oh and what because you stand up its harder, it takes just as much coordination to draw a line with your head and shoulders (normally closer to the barrel or on a steeper wave in general) as it does to do so ****ing riding a skateboard down the face of a wave with your donkey ass wide stance like most east coast nonpro surfers have. Most good surfers have respect for good bodyboarders and normally most bodyboarders have respect for good surfers its just ignortant ****s like you that give your sport a bad name brah
