    How bad is the paddle out in NY?

    Just for kicks how bad is the paddle out in NY on an average big day compared to jersey?

    i dont kno about jersey but during hurricane Bill it took about half an hour to paddle out

    I've never surfed jersey but some breaks in NY can be a b*tch to paddle out. Especially if you dont have a good duck dive.

    well what are currents like? i know sometimes down in maryland i can drift 20 streets before i get out to a line up. same deal in NY?

    depends on the wave size, direction, bottom contour. Hard to give that question a general answer. Even jersey varies from break to break.

    You better have a strong duck dive. Expect to move several jetties down just to get to the line up. This all depends on the current though. There can be a huge sweep in the AM and the nothing a few hours later. Well worth the paddle out if its clean. During Bill you had to move your ass out there or else you had the chance of smacking into one of the jetties!

    looks like i will be out around Lincoln Ave Friday from about dawn till 2-3. that is if the forecasts stay the same or improve.
