Thread: Do people work?

  1. #21
Yeah, on Wednesday, I was eating my lunch at my desk and looked at the 48th street webcam and also was shocked at how many surfers were in the water around 1pm on a Wednesday in late October. It looked like pre-labor day crowds. And the forecast wasn't anything stellar either..."semi-clean/thigh high" was showing on the forecast, but the waves were bigger than that upon view (looked like consistent chest high sets to me on the 48th St. cam).

Most of the people out are prolly teens/college students, who are working part time and surf when they're not working or at class..

I dont get out in the water during the week as much as I want to anymore. I work 2nd shift but my job is 45 min away from my house which dont bother me too much cause it is not as long as some of my other commutes in the past. I try to get out in the water at least once a week and on the weekends in the colder months. Have kids , morgage and other responsibilties keep me busy .

Before I got into carrer I have choosen I use to get Laid off from Sept- march which was great for me and my hours for work were from 2pm - 12 midnght. So after work I could party then go surf in the morning during the summer months.

I cant complain I get paid very well and I have great time off and pretty much every hoilday off and after the bills are paid there is a little coin left to get my self some nice surfing gear

Some of us lucky ones retired early to the eastern shore (26 yrs in the USAF). So still "young" and have the rest of my life to surf in the middle of the work week. Summer weekends are too miserable.

medical supply/device or pharma sales is where it's at if you want a good paying job with the flexibility to go surfing when there's waves.

And thanks for serving the country for so many years. You've earned and deserve the opportunity to hit the water anytime you want.
