Say nothing keep surfing as if it never happened
Drop in on him on his next couple waves
Say something loud enough to your buddy so that he hears you and knows that's not gonna fly
say something like "Did you hear me call you off?" or "Why did you just drop in?"
Surf harder, don't respect lineup, jockey for position and get everything you can
Tell him to meet you on the beach

Having said all that, I think fighting is a very last ditch option. 99 percent of the time you can get your point across with lots of different tools, but, I'm pretty old school and believe that violence CAN be an effective motivator for some people.

Funny story, I remember one time a few years back I was surfing in sea isle one day in the summer, which by the way has the most managable crowds for summer day time surfing, but anyway, some one dropped in on this one guy and I am not sure if it was the first time or not, but this guy flipped out, screaming at the top of his lungs and paddled over to the other guy and punched him. The other guy was trying to get away as this guy was trying to beat the hell outta him. Last I saw of that guy. Me and my buds were like wtf?
Felt bad for him, but its crazy that was the first and last time I saw an actual fight in the water and of all places, sea isle.

I most cases when its big out most of the kooks wont be out. And during the summer it only gets crowded during the weekend and in that case just wait til after the life guards get off duty and surf then . I dont know how many ppl is see get out of the water when the life guards pack it in for the day .

addressing the beef before you start it. It means address the problem first, usually verbally. Then if that doesn't work, start the beef, a fight.
What it doesn't mean is walking over to someone and kicking their ass for no reason. You have to know and communicate why you're starting the fight before you proceed with it.
Good Example: You get dropped in on. After the wave you address the beef. "Yo, you dropped in on me. Gotta look before you take off kook." Then if you want you can start beef, start an ass kicking.
Bad Example: You get dropped in on. After the wave you don't say anything. You react by starting the beef. This is wrong and unsportsman like. It also goes against the rule, address the beef be4 you start it.
there are guys around here that would qualify as "wrong guy" - not as much as there used to be - I know a few Brazilians from Long Branch, who not only surf very greedily and aggressively, but would very happily throw down with anyone who wanted to take it to that level. They do all think they're related to the Gracie family, but the fact is, they like to fight and know how to do it, whereas 95% of suburban-raised people who surf around here haven't thrown a punch since junior high, if even then. There's also this large biker dude that surfs around Asbury, who is rumored to have done time in Rahway for murder; he's actually a really cool guy.I agree that odds would be no cops or trouble but with the wrong guy you would end up in the court room for sure (especially if you were the one standing when all said and done).
That is always the problem with throwing a punch. If you get your ass kicked then thats on you.
I like what the poster above said...you deal with the issue verbally then if you need to you fight.
If that was the same day and guy, get the hell outta here. Haha, wonder if I know your face, I bet alot of us on here seen eachother a few times.
