I've seen it much more sideshore... producing "strong sideshore current", which is a pain in the asshole.

Pray tell, which wind could be more sideshore than SSW to a ESE facing beach?

That's the same thing we all want... but if you want something bad enough, you'll take the time to thoroughly inspect the behavior of that thing, 'till you understand why it is how it is, instead of merely just how it is.
