Oc md winter

So, i have noticed quite a few posts from guys who are staying in downtown OC MD, or places right on the beach uptown a bit...

I know some people who live in Salisbury and areas CLOSE to OC MD, but I really don't know anyone that lives IN OC MD year round these days.

I am just curious, to the ones who live IN OC during the winter. What do you guys do for work etc? Does everything still close down in the winter like it used to, or is there sh** to do and places open these days? Just curious what life is still moving around in OC during the winter these days... I noticed a bunch of posts from guys in high rises and stuff..... Just curious

I live in bethany year round just signing a lease on a place like two miles inland. We are living in seacolony year round I wait tables year round. I am lucky though the place I work is open year round. there are lots of locals specials during the winter and my wife brings in enough to tide us over working in the millsboro area.

Thats cool. My fiance and I and I always toss around the idea of moving back to MD after we get married this summer. I told her I will only live on the coast though, since we life on the beach in San Diego..

Her and I both work in the restaurant industry. She is a pastry chef who just finished culinary school out here and I am a the GM of a fine dining Steak hour in La Jolla. Its funny because i have a comp sci degree from Towson and I a restaurant manager. This all happened because of surfing, so I can still surf everyday.... Long story short, the lady and I both plan on staying in the industry for life and we love OC MD. It is my home break from childhood and we love it there. We eventually want to open our own restaurant possibly in OC MD so we can stay close to family that we both have back there. But we wont be able to afford to open our own place right away. I want to buy a house or a condo first, so the Fiance and I will both have to work restaurant jobs, her as a chef and me as a manager... So, I was really curious about the restaurant industry back there in the winter. I wouldn't mind shutting down my own smaller restaurant seasonally if need be, but when I need a salary managemetn job there, Im worried about finding something year round... Not to mention a quality place. My current menu features $100 kobe filets and $1000+ bottles of wine. So im worried about getting stuck managing a taco bell in the winter...

Any advice? Are there year round restaurants that have quality work???? I know there are like 1000 places that crank all summer, but like I said, I want to live at the beach, year round... I want to walk to the sand like I do now... But back there.... I have been keeping an eye on the housing market back there and its still pretty pricey all over OC. Its not as bad as out here, but its still pretty high. You can get a 2 bdrm condo on the strip for like $150, but there are no decent townhomes under $200k anywhere I can find.

Ruths Chris in OC Area, ***ers Island has "fine dining" and some nice places in Rehoboth area, but couldn't give you names. I doubt you will find anything like where you are working now in OC. You could find some nice houses and town homes in the Bethany area (in the Frankford Zip) for the 200,000 range and your property taxes will be a fraction of those in OC (like a few hundred instead of a few thousand). You will be a little farther from OC, but closer to some solid DE breaks and it is a lot mellower up there, in my opinion a lot nicer and definitely classier.

Yeah, no doubt. Deleware is really chill. And I know there is not going to be the same place here as there, but I understand that. I would take the GM position at Ruth's Chris and be happy, but what are the chances of that one position being available when I need it =) ya know. But regardless, if they pay me properly, I will manage whatever. Phillips, I dont care....

But yeah, I would for sure get a house up in Deleware. I could still drive into town for work if need be. My main concern is having my home as close to the water as possible. I would rather walk to surf and drive to work. ya know? But yeah, thanks for the info. I have never surfed much in DE, I know it starts straching back up to that NE angle, so I would imagine they get some good winter surf. I know downtown OC picks up the most consistent in the area, but DE is super chill.
