    Proximity to the beach

I know this question has been asking in many different ways, but rather than asking the general public how close they live to the beach....

This question is directed to those of you that live AT the beach, in so many words. This question is for the guys that live on the Jersey Shore, and in DE and in OC MD and in VB.... how many blocks/miles do you live from the beach? DO you own or rent?

I live about 4.5 blocks from the beach, which on map quest leaves me about .40 miles from the OB dog beach. I have live as close as on the sand basically with an ocean view, but this is the furthest I have lived from the actual sand in a Beach town... WHere I can still walk to the beach to surf every day, if I want to. I still usually drive in case my beach isnt working....

But, when i look at realestate back at the beach in the mid atlantic, its hard to find anything other than a high rise condo by the beach for under $200...

There are some good deals in Ocean Pines, which is about 5 miles from the beach, and OPines is a sick area, but its more of a bayside community.... and W Ocean City is cool too, but there is a lot of ghettto double wides and sh** down there...

Just curious. For those of you that consider youselves to live AT THE BEACH, how close are you?

I guess its a different paradigm for all of us. I guess I could go up to or a little over a mile away and consider to still be "At the beach" because if you want to, a mile walk is only 10-15 minutes....Its just easier to find beach housing on the west coast. The entire coastline is stuff with homes and apartments and stuff all over. All residential though. Not all the high rise season condos like back east.

I own about 1.25 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and I love it. We "stole" a 3 bedroom single-family house for the low $300k's. In addition to the location, the neighborhood and schools are very good.

4 houses all 1.5 miles from the beach. About three minute drive or ten minute bike ride.

Zach, you had better just stay in the Independent Nation of Ocean Beach. Maryland is still part of the USA and homes blocks from the beach are expensive. Alternatives might be St. Augustine or the Space Coast (layoffs of 25,000 space workers will drive prices further down).

Zach, not to be a ****, but do you have to mention that you live in San Diego in nearly all of your posts? Isn't there a west coast forum or something?

Sorry that was kinda rude... I'm just jealous cause I had to move back from PB cause I ran outta money

The West Coast forum is not nearly as active as the Mid-Atlantic. Those guys are usually surfing and not talking about surfing.

I know man, I try not to. I hang in this forum cause Im from maryland man! I wont be out here forever!

But the only reason I mentioned it in this post is because all the coastal property here is residential, and its weird that all the beach towns back east are all season condos etc... I guess there is just more money to be made in short period rentals there....
Anyway, I will never mention my location again =)

If Swellinfo would take this 619 off the end of my name, I will be in business!@
