stay in miami beach , any advice on what i should be learning 1st and were would be a good area to learn

I've surfed south florida a bit, but I'm not that familiar with the miami surf spots, except for south beach, which gets very good but very crowded as well. I can tell you that your best bet for learning, and especially with the generally small south florida surf is to get yourself a nice fat 9ft or so longboard to learn on. And of course, keep checking swellinfo.com to find out when the conditions are going to be good

I Suggest that you find a non-crowded beach down there (as hard as that may be) and perhaps find a friend/local, that can give you some tips.

I would also suggest that you get like a 9ft either foam board, or fiberglass (as long as the fins aren't glassed in)

having glassed in fins could be terrible in the horrible shorepound of florida

thnks for the tip , appreciate all the advice anybody can give , i heard that its bettr durring winter , than in summer is that true.

Well the waves are more consistentt during the winter

But the summer has the occasional hurricane swell (like on monday)

and that is really good to surf

If you're gonna surf winter, i recommend that you buy a spring suit now (while they're on sale)

...The water (even though it's florida) can still get pretty cold
